"Published first in ''The New-England Psalm-Singer'', 1770, p. 69, without any indication of lyrics. Revised by Billings in 1778, with lyrics added by Nahum Tate and Nicholas Brady, ''New Version'', 1698, paraphrase of Psalm 135. In a later The Waterhouse Manuscript, Billings took the simple tune of "New North" and expanded and improved it; he titled it Dartmouth (William Billings)."
