Of a’ the airts the wind can blaw, I dearly lo’e the west, For there the bonnie lassie lives, The lassie I lo’e best: Tho’ wildwoods grow, an’ rivers row, An’ mony a hill between: Baith day an’ night my fancy’s flight Is ever wi’ my Jean. I see her in the dewy flow’rs, Sae lovely sweet an’ fair: I hear her voice in ilka bird, Wha’s music charms the air: There’s not a bonnie flow’r that springs, By fountain, shaw, or green; There’s not a bonnie bird that sings, But minds me o’ my Jean. O blaw, ye westlin winds blaw saft, Amang the leafy trees; Wi’ gentle gale, frae hill and dale, Bring hame the laden bees; An’ bring the lassie back to me That’s aye sae neat and clean, A’e smile o’ hers wad banish care, Sae lovely is my Jean.
