O be joyful in God, all ye lands; sing praises unto the honour of his Name; make his praise to be glorious. O come hither, and behold the works of God; how wonderful he is in his doing toward the children of men. Marvellous things did he in the sight of our forefathers, in the land of Egypt, even in the field of Zoan. He divided the sea, and let them go through; he made the waters to stand on an heap. He clave the hard rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink thereof, as it had been out of the great depth. He rained down manna also upon them for to eat, and gave them food from heaven. O come hither, and hearken, all ye that fear God; and I will tell you what he hath done for my soul. When my spirit was in heaviness, I cried unto the Lord. I poured out my complaints before him, and showed him of my trouble. I had no place to flee unto, and no man cared for my soul. But God hath heard me; and considered the voice of my prayer. Praised be God, who hath not cast out my prayer, nor turned his mercy from me. He is a Father of the fatherless, he defendeth the cause of the widows; He bringeth the prisoners out of captivity; He is the God who helpeth us, and poureth his benefits upon us. O praise our God, ye people. Young men and maidens, old men and children, praise the Name of the LORD: for his Name only is excellent, and his praise above heaven and earth.
