None of the items in this book have composers given, but attributions for Tomus Primus have been determined through scholarship. For that volume, all but one of the originals can be found in ''Canzone villanesche alla napolitana (Adrian Willaert)'', ''Il primo libro di canzon villanesche (Baldassare Donato)'', and ''Le quatoirsiesme livre a 4 parties (Orlando di Lasso)''. According to the British Library, which has an imperfect copy of the Discantus partbook, the contents of the Tomus Secundus remain anonymous as to composer but have contrafact lyrics by Ludwig Helmbold."
