Slowly sinks to sun to rest, Now the herdsman winds his horn, Ev'ry bird is in its nest, Sheltered by the friendly thorn. In the wood the blackbird sings Farewell songs to dying day, As at morn he hailed the dawn, So at night he chants his lay. Flowery odours fill the air, All is calm, and sweet, and fair.
